Coldharbour Institute is passionate about restoring historic structures, preserving their historic nature while reusing them in a beneficial manner. The Coldharbour Ranch property will serve as an example of how historic buildings can be reinvented in a sustainable way.
Coldharbour Ranch currently has three structures: a house, a barn foundation, and a loafing shed that are of interest to restore as part of the future headquarters of Coldharbour Institute. The barn and house hold historic significance because of their unique
hand-quarried stone foundation and walls.
Both the barn and house have received Gunnison County Historic Register designation representing the historical ranching communities in the Gunnison Valley and demonstrate local masonry craftsmanship worthy of preservation.
Coldharbour has recently submitted a grant to History Colorado for a Historical Structure Assessment to evaluate the physical condition of the barn foundation and obtain detailed recommendations for potential restoration. Both the barn and house are structures of historical significance of which Coldharbour intends to preserve and highlight as we develop our headquarters on the ranch.
